This is my favorite site for audiobooks because it has so many options! I can download audiobooks to my device and listen when I’m offline. They have many of the William Allen White books on audio. Last summer I listened to 11 WAW books on this site.

Capstone ebooks (grades PreK - 6) are free until June 30, 2020. Their site includes 4,000 nonfiction ebooks, including sports, science, animals, history, biography. You can search by AR level, and the site includes the AR quiz number. You can read the book on your own, or the “auto play” feature reads the book aloud to you. If your student likes nonfiction, I recommend this site for some great reading options.
These two platforms, recommended for grades 3 and up, include over 300 ebooks and digital audiobooks. These resources are licensed just for Sterling students and passwords are required. Take a look at our detailed instructions for accessing these resources. The instructions include two excellent video tutorials created by Mrs. Michelle Miller, our library assistant.
Ebooks include: Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals, The Hunger Games, Rick Riordan books, Little Women, Peter Pan, sports, romance, classics and more!
The video tutorial below was created for Sterling High School, but the grade school site works the same way. SGS students should use their AR username and password to log in to Discover.
Abdo Digital Bookshelf (PreK - 12) is an ebook service that is being offered free until May 31, 2020. They offer an outstanding collection of Marvel Age graphic novels/comics, sports books (mainly nonfiction and biographies), and animal books. They also have abridged classics like The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Sherlock Holmes and much more.
The website makes it easy to search according to Grade Group (beginner, elementary, middle grades, high school), Genre (graphic novels), and Subject (animals, sports, etc.). The Advanced Search feature lets you search for sports books for a certain grade group, for example. After clicking on a title, a details screen includes ATOS level, which is the AR reading level, letting you know that book has an AR test available. |
